About Revera Energy

Revera Energy (Revera) is a clean energy infrastructure platform focussed on developing, building, owning and operating critical energy projects across Australia and the UK. Backed by Carlyle, Revera specialises in battery storage, renewable energy and green hydrogen solutions that support grid resilience and accelerate the energy transition.

We have been actively involved in the Australian renewable energy market since 2017. We currently operate two solar farms in New South Wales namely 119MW Hillston Solar Farm and 39MW Molong Solar Farm. We commenced commercial operations of 150MW / 300MWh (Stage 1) of Bungama BESS in South Australia in May 2026.

We continue to develop a diverse portfolio of projects in South Australia including three hybrid projects namely Bungama Stage 2, Robertstown and Yoorndoo Ilga, which have the potential to deliver up to 3,400 MWh of battery energy storage and up to 1,000 MW of solar generation. We are also developing the Cape Hardy Green Hydrogen Project located on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia.

About The Project

The Robertstown Project

The Robertstown Project is located approximately 5 km north-east of Robertstown, directly adjacent to the Robertstown Substation.

The development is proposed to comprise a 500 MW / 2,000 MWh, 4-hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), constructed in stages, followed by an (up to) 500 MW photovoltaic solar farm. These assets will feed into the Robertstown Substation and support the SA–NSW Interconnector.

Robertstown Project (Solar) Operations Pty Ltd was incorporated solely to develop, construct and operate the Robertstown Project and is jointly owned by Revera Energy, as the majority shareholder.

The Project holds Development Approval and is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the local community.

An additional Development Approval is held for a further 300MW of photovoltaic solar, at Robertstown East.

The Project Includes

Indicative Project Timeline

Stage 1 of the BESS is currently progressing toward a financial close in Q4 2026, with commercial operations targeted for Q4 2028.

Renewable Energy Generation

Australia remains a global leader in renewable energy with some of the highest solar generation per capita and Revera Energy is actively contributing to this transition, operating 158 MW of solar assets in New South Wales, the Hillston and Molong Solar Farms.

As South Australia is rapidly evolving its energy mix, the state’s electricity supply is increasingly dependent on renewables, especially solar and wind. This brings about times of oversupply (during strong solar generation periods) and shortfalls (when solar output drops), creating a strong need for battery storage and grid-stability services.

Revera is focused on the development of three multi utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS); Bungama, Robertstown, and Yoorndoo. These projects will provide critical storage capacity to enhance grid reliability, support renewable integration, and deliver dispatchable clean energy.

Environmental Management

The Robertstown Project is being developed in line with social, environmental and heritage assessment and approval processes to ensure impacts are minimised and local values are protected.

Comprehensive impact assessments have guided the project design, across predominantly cleared agricultural land, addressing biodiversity, soil and water management, and traffic considerations.

A Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) will be approved and implemented to manage impacts throughout construction, with an Operations Management Plan (OMP) in line with legislative requirements, and further plan for decommissioning.

Measures include minimising vegetation clearance, implementing erosion and dust controls, managing waste responsibly, and monitoring noise and traffic.

Robertstown East

Development Approval June 2025

Robertstown East is an (up to) 300MW photovoltaic solar farm, proposed to be developed adjacent to the primary Robertstown BESS and Solar Farm projects, connecting via the Robertstown or Bundey substations.

Revera Energy receives key Robertstown BESS applications

The Revera team has recently received the required Native Vegetation Clearing approval as well as a Not a Controlled Action response to its EPBC referral from the relevant State and Commonwealth authorities for the Robertstown BESS project. Revera anticipates timely assessment processes for the remaining AIL under the HRE Act, and will continue to work proactively with the relevant agencies throughout.

Community Engagement

Revera is committed to ongoing engagement with its host communities, including consultation with landholders, community members and local Councils. A Community Benefit Fund is being designed in conjunction with local stakeholders and will be established once operations commence.

The Fund will provide an annual financial contribution, for the life of the Project. It is intended to support key local initiatives within the host community. Further details regarding the Fund, including its value and governance arrangements, will be developed as the Project progresses.

The Project has executed a Heritage Agreement with the Ngadjuri and the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee, as Traditional Owners of the land across the Project. Cultural Heritage Management Plans will be prepared in consultation with them, to protect and manage cultural heritage values in the area.
